Bizarre Story About Jim Jones

Religion has always been a force that gave people the power to make an amazing work, but in the moment it grows into fanaticism, it becomes deadly. It is an illustration of the seventies, in whose center was Jim Jones, founder of the Christian cult "The People's Temple followers of Christ." He was one of the greatest manipulators in modern history and a man who forced almost 1.000 people to commit suicide.

In order to attract people to his controversial religious movement, he claimed that he is the incarnation of Buddha, and Jesus Christ, the Pharaoh Akhenaten, and Vladimir Lenin.

Son Of Veteran

Born as James Warren Jones, controversial preacher was a son of veteran from the First World War. In the history, he will be remembered as one of the strangest mass murderers, who himself committed suicide along with his followers in that tragic 18 November 1978.

Jones founded the cult in 1955, and in his youth he was obsessed with the ideas of Stalin, Marx, Gandhi, Hitler and Mao.

He preached the idea that order change can bring only mass mobilization, and his cult slowly attracted more attention. After the conflict with the Islamic Movement of nations, he attracted and unwanted attention- the attention of authorities.

Jones then decided to move his cult from the US to the jungle in Guyana, where he established the seat of Johnstown (John's city), and was followed by more than a thousand followers.

A key for mass murder was visit of California Congressman Leo Ryan, who was sent to Guyana as part of investigation of the cult, led by the US government.

Wrong Move

When he arrived in Guyana, cult members killed him, which caused shock in the United States, which were already planning to send special forces to arrest the murderers and dissolved the cult.

Jones then told his followers that their temple in danger, and urged them "not to allow themselves to be captured alive." That is 909 people, including 300 children, consciously took cyanide and died of poisoning. Jones then shot himself in the head.

Only few members of this horrible cult survived, who testified later about the terrible story which has left a dark stain on the history of the United States.
