Another Great List Of Unsolved Mysteries- Part Three
Sea People
During the late Bronze Age, civilization progressed in impressive speed in the Aegean and the eastern Mediterranean. Kingdoms were created, order was established and they had advanced technologies. Mycenaeans and Minoans were very important in Greece and Crete, and the Hittites dominated in today's Turkey. Canaanites controlled part of the country that will become a sacred place - Israel, Lebanon and Jordan. However, about 1 200 BC. Cr. all this will change.
During a single generation, all civilization will be almost erased from the map, and what's left just was not at the level- the loss of writing skills, the watch and the sophistication of its art, architecture and pottery.
This event is part of the collapse of the Bronze Age and it is still one of the biggest hot spots in the history science. One of the causes of the collapse were bizarre and mysterious marine people - technologically inferior, non-aligned fearsome warriors who occupied the country.
The problem is that historians have little idea where these warriors came from or what happened to them after they had won Egypt. It is also unclear how the Sea people managed to win civilization with many advanced weapons.
But without a solid record at the time and with only a few incomplete details on the origin of these strange failed, we may never know who they really were.
The strange Antikythera mechanism
The Antikythera mechanism is an incredibly intriguing analog computer found in a shipwreck near Greece in 1900. The device is used to determine the position of celestial bodies with the help of an incredibly complex system of bronze gears. Antikythera itself was impressive, but the most amazing part of the mechanism is the time in which it was created. 100 years before Christ, and more than 1 000 years before anything that might even be close to this level of technological complexity and work skills. Also, the Antikythera was created before the modern understanding of astronomy and physics. Antikythera is made 1 600 years before Galileo's birth and 1 700 years before Newton's birth.
The rational explanation is that the device used a theory about the movement of celestial bodies at that time, and that it was made by an extremely skilled artisan. But, no matter how many answers is offered, Atikitera gives even more questions.
