Treasure from the legend of "El Dorado"

Thousands of years ago, long before the Spaniards arrived in the territory of present-day Colombia, a tribal leader Chipce regularly entered the lake Guatavita sprinkled with gold dust throwing into the lake the gold and other valuables as a gift to the gods.

It's an ancient legend, but some people indeed found gold, which means that this legend might be true.

Lake Guatavita, located a few hours from Bogota, the capital of Colombia, was in the center of the legend of El Dorado. Spaniards are still in 1536 attempted to empty the lake, which are repeated several times. Every time they would discovered small amount of gold. It is also known that several hundred people were killed during the drying of the lake.

The last attempt was carried out in 1911 but mud at the bottom prevented a search for possible treasures.
