Unexplained Historical Facts- Part Two
In this article, we will continue with our list of the unexplained historical facts. As we said before, today’s people usually think that they know everything about the past and their forebears. This is definitely another myth of the modern era. We do not know everything. In fact, we know less than we can imagine.
3. Mysterious Chinese caves
In 1992, a very curious resident of the Chinese village Longjou teamed up with neighbors to buy a water pump and emptied the pond to see if it really comes to the pond or flooded entrance to the ancient cave. It turned out that it was a 2,000-year-old network of 36 hidden rooms from the early period of the Chinese Han Dynasty.
All documents about the construction and purpose of this building under the ground still missing. This is very unusual because it is well-known that the ancient Chinese were eager chroniclers. All we know about the construction is that it is not a product of the nature. All inner walls are covered with symbols carved with chisel, moreover, have stairs, abutments and they are all painted.
For unknown reasons, a huge and very expensive project was a big secret until it was not discovered by the accident in early nineties.
4. Coded Letter
If someone would ask you what the most important and influential civilizations of antiquity are, you would probably say the Romans or Greeks, given the abundance of written documents, architecture, philosophy and other things. Only the greatest lovers of history would say that they were the Etruscans.
Small civilizations, that inhabited the territory of present Tuscany, invented the aqueducts, urbanism, sewers, bridges and metallurgy; in fact everything that unfairly attributed to Rome. And, although modern science Etruscans seen as one of the most important and influential civilizations in history, there is a big obstacle that prevents us to discover their secrets: we have never been able to decipher their letter.
Scientists decipher Egyptian hieroglyphics thanks to the discovery of the Rosetta Stone. We owe for that to the King Ptolemy V and the fact that he wanted his law to be written in three letters (ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, demotic script, and ancient Greek language).
5. Mysterious "Sea People"
The thirteenth century BC was a very difficult period for the people who lived in the Mediterranean. Great empires of the time - Hittite, Egyptian and Mycenaean empire - after prolonged golden age began to deteriorate. Above all, the vast army of barbaric nations suddenly appeared out of nowhere and interrogate their cities burned to the ground. We call them "Sea Peoples", but the truth is that even today we have no idea who they really were.
We met with anger of these mysterious invaders for the first time in Anatolia, present Turkey. According to historical sources, the Anatolia was one of the most powerful cities in the region, which is the reason why king of a neighboring Ugarit was quite confused and frightened when Anatolians spoke to him for help in the fight against gangs of unknown assailants.
Ugarit sent his army to assist in Anatolia, but even that was not enough. "The people from the sea" burned Anatolia and then Ugarit. After that, they just disappeared.
A few years later, the same fate befell the Kadesh, a large shopping center in today's Syria. Their violent march across the cradle of civilization continued until they were attacked Egypt, who was able to resist them. After two conquests with great losses on both sides, "Sea People" have finally decided to admit defeat and came back to where they came from.
But who were the winners? According to some assumptions, they are originally from Europe, the Balkans, Asia Minor .... The problem is that those who had the opportunity to meet them were in big hurry and did not have time to ask them from where they are and what they want.
