Unsolved Mystery of the Zodiac Killer- Part Two
In the first part of the story about the famous and mysterious serial killer Zodiac, the had been terrorizing people in the San Francisco in late 1960s, we said that public never found out the exact number of victims of this maniac- the number varied between five to 37. We also sad that he had two copycat killers and that one of them was 14- year old boy. Zodiac was famous because his letter that he was sending to the press and the police before next attack.
Restrospective
The next victim of this crazy serial killer was Paul Lee Stine, a cab driver. He was sitting in his vehicle when someone shot him form the revolver. It was in October 11th, 1969. Some investigators and murder experts think Stine was the last victim of the Zodiac. They have a theory that all later killings cannot be connected with him and that they are probably work of the copycat killers and other imitators.
This is the moment for a short recapitulation. The first murdered happened near Lake Herman Road, when young couple was shot by the unknown gunman while they were sitting in their car. Policemen were in the bad position because they did not manage to find any clue. The worst thing was that there were no witnesses of this double murder.
The next couple on the list was another couple- Darlene Ferrin and Michael Mageau. Darlene died, but her boyfriend survived. Almost the same situation happened on September 27th in the same year, when Zodiac attacked Cecilia Shepard and her boyfriend Bryan Hartnell at the Lake Berryessa’s shore. Youngman survived, but Cecilia died. As we said, the last name on this bloody list was the name of cab driver Paul Lee Stine.
Murders Continued
Although some thing, as we said before, that this murder of the cab driver was the last “work” of the Zodiac serial killer, the horror continued very soon. Unknown person attacked again mother Kathleen Johns and her ten month old daughter somewhere near San Bernardino. They managed to escape form the lunatic but they both suffered from the hard trauma. According to the journalists and police detectives, it was officially the last attack of the Zodiac. However, it was not the last word from this mysterious person.
He soon started to send his famous letters to the press, with intro sentences: This is the Zodiac speaking”. The first one arrived in the San Francisco local newspaper on August 1. 1969. All his letters was wrote like some kind of puzzle, and he stated that the solution of these riddles would discover true his true identity. It was not true because policemen did not found out who he was despite of the fact they succeeded to resolve his cryptograms.
The real identity of the killer is still mystery but investigators hope that it might be solved very soon. The police currently examine all letter with the DNA tests, which could finally led them to the serial killer that was terrorizing the USA behind the name Zodiac.
