Unsolved Mystery of the Zodiac Killer- Part One
Zodiac killer is one of the most mysterious serial killers in the history and the secret about this case is still thick and hazy. For some experts in the criminal history and serial killings in general, this case is maybe even more intriguing than better known cases, such as famous Jack The Ripper or Peter Kurten (known as a Dusseldorf Vampire). However, some aspects of this story are very similar to the cases from the past.
Strange Letters
When we say that, we mean about the letters in the first place. Zodiac killer was famous because of his letter which he sent to the police and press before next murder. He was obviously obsessed with public and spectacle. His trade mark has become the intro sentence:” This is the Zodiac speaking”. One another characteristic of his letters was a circle divided into 4 pieces with cross. This is even now recognized as one of the symbols of dead.
As we can suspect, the Zodiac killer was some kind of the horrible famous star, because he had been a cover story during the long period. However, we now know that this maniac had at least two copycat killers that have been trying to replicate his “work”. These two lunatics was Heriberto Seda from New York. The second derail killer that imitated his idol Zodiac was even more bizarre. It was 14- old Japanese boy. Because of his age, the public never got the chance to know his real name. In the media, he was called Seito Sakakibara.
Let’s back to our main character of the story. Zodiac terrorized people in the San Francisco Bay during the end of the 1960s. Same as with other things about this person, we still do not know even the number of his victims. The number varies from five to 37.
First Two Victims
Everything started in Decembar 20th, 1968, when bodies of Betty Lou Jansen and David Faraday founded. According to the police inspectors and press, a young couple was sitting in their car near Lake Herman Road when they were attacked by unknown gunman. Both of them were killed. The nightmare for the police started. Nobody saw these murders and investigators did not find anything that would be helpful in the investigation. It was like a dead end from the very beginning. However, all thought it was just an isolate case and that this will not convert in the serial killer scenario. They were wrong.
The silence was broken in July 1969 in Vallejo. Zodiac picked new victims, this time Darlene Ferrin and Michael Mageau. Fortunately, Mageau survived. Ferrin did not have that luck and she died. Zodiac was shota couple of time in that girl. He did have many chances.
Nightmare continued on September 27 of the same year. This time, bloody scene was removed in the shores of the Lake Berryessa. Again, Zodiac was shooting in the couple and killed young girl Cecile Shepard. Her boyfriend Bryian Hartnell was wounded but he survived the attack.
