Tamam Shud- Great Australian Enygma
Police from Adelaide in South Australia received a call in which some person reported dead body on the beach. It was the first day of December, 1948. Nobody can even imagine that this will be the greatest Australian mystery in the history.
Body On the Beach
Police officers founded body of the unidentified male laying on the beach. His body was slumped in front of the seawall. It was a man in the middle ages and, according to the pictures and wetness, this man was in the good physical condition. It was very interesting that he was dressed with taste, with elegant suit and ties.
However, one thing was particularly confusion about his outfit. The body was founded dressed in pullover and suit jacket, despite the fact of the hot weather. Police officers did not manage to find any cause of that- it seemed that man was not murdered. After they picked up the body, the searched for any trace of the identity. However, they did not find anything because. In the pockets, there was not any kind of identification. Moreover, there were not any kind of labels and tags on cloth also. It seemed that somebody removed very professionally.
However, they did find something. They founded a strange item in the trouser pocket. It was like some kind of the secret message. On a small piece of the rolled up paper, two words were written. These words are Tamam Shud. And nothing else.
Strange Message
After a detailed research and advising with the experts, police inspectors discovered that this piece of paper was torn from the very rare copy of the book The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. Experts explained that these two words mean the end or just finish.
As we said, this book was written by the Omar Khayyam, famous Persian poet and scientists form the 12. century. He was one of the leading intellectuals of that time, which is understandably why people called him philosopher of the world. In general, his book was a collection of a number of different poems, which were focused on the “Carpe diem”- the attitude about living the life without limits and regret.
Spy or Not?
In the beginning, investigators of the local police suspected that man committed a suicide with some kind of poison, but they did not find a evidence for that theory in the blood. The truth is that they did not have a clue why this man died. Even the coroner admitted that he is not able to discover the real cause of death. From that time, this strange death has become a great mystery.
Investigators later also discovered some strange code, which has been used during the Cold War and spy war against Americans and Soviets. This is a reason why investigator thought that man form the beach must be some kind of spy. However, no agency ever confirmed that this man ever worked for them. The code is still encoded.
