What Happened To The Children?
This fascinating mystery occurred in the small and peaceful town of Fayetteville in West Virginia and, even after 69 years, it is still puzzling for everyone who tried to find any reasonable answer. In the center of this tragic story is the Sodder family, who has lost their five kids after a huge fire in their house. It was on Christmas Eve in 1945.
Strange Phone Call
George Sodder and his wife Jennie were in their home with nine of their ten kids, celebrating the Christmas Eve. One of their sons was not there, because he was in the army at that time.
Everything seemed to be perfect and the whole family went to sleep. A few seconds after the midnight telephone rang and Jennie picked up the phone. Unknown voice asked her to speak with some person, but Jenny did not know who that person that voice asked for was. The unknown person from the other end of the lane laughed and hung up. Jenny returned to the bad, but before she entered into the bedroom, she spotted that kids did not turn the lights off and that they left the door unlock. She returned to bad anyway and soon she fell into the sleep.
She woke up again, after she heard a strange sound that was coming from the roof of the house. It was fire.
Everything was happening fast and after a few minutes, George and Jennie realized that five of their kids were missing. They could not go in the house, because it was burned to the ground. They were desperate, especially after the firemen told that their children was probably burned in the fire or suffocated.
Without a Clue
However, the bodies were missing and nothing, even the single thing about the kids was not found after the tragedy. The bereaved parent cleaned up the whole site and made the garden in memory of their beloved.
However, parents were confused how they managed to find some pieces of clothes in the burnt remains, but not the remains of the bodies.
Soon after the tragedy, parents have begun to receive the letters and notes about their missing kids and location of their current residence - all of them were telling those children were not died in the fire and that they all alive and well. They once received a photo of a young man and the note in which stated this was their son. George and Jennie checked all locations, but without any luck. They even contacted the FBI and the famous J. Edgar Hoover, but the officials said the case was close and that parents must accept the reality.
Although there have been many theories about the destiny of kids, nobody has ever offered the proof that they were alive after the fire or that they died in the accident. The case of the missing children from the Sodder family is still a mystery. Even the biggest rationalists thing that something strange happened on the Christmas Eve in 1945.
