The Secret Of Torcross City
From today’s perspective, Torcross city in Devon province is just an ordinary small and peaceful place on the British coast, very similar to the other fishing cities near the ocean. There are a number of the natural beauties beside the ocean in this city in the south of the Great Britain- wide sandy beaches and beautiful lake The Lay, which is the natural habitat of rare animal species.
German Invasion?
However, there is something hidden in the history of this peaceful city- one horrible and bloody story. It is a tragedy that happened during the World War II. This event is still a mystery for the majority of historians. Some think this is one of the biggest conspiracies in the new history of Great Britain.
There are a number of the historian evidences that show something strange happened in the Torcoss during the war against the Germans. We know the all residents of the city were moved from their homes because of the soldiers. The army needed space for the training and exercising for the upcoming secret operation that is known as the Normandy D- the final allied offensive. The area and terrain of the Torcross were perfect for the mission preparation, because the British shore is similar to those in the France. The operation was called Exercise Tiger.
In the early morning on April 1944, something strange happened during the military preparation. It was recorded by the several military sources that nine German submarines attacked the convoy of the allied ships that were the part of the exercises. We also know the Germans were armed with the torpedoes.
The German’s attack was brutal and effective and two ships sank because of the deadly torpedoes. Another two boats were seriously damaged. Some historians and military experts assume that more than 740 American soldiers were killed during the German’s offensive.
Silence Over Dead Bodies
The strangest thing happened after the battle. Instead of the official funeral of the brave soldiers, the authorities have decided to bury the corpses from the sea and the beach under the silence. Everything about this activity was covered by the mystery.
Unfortunately, dead soldiers are still at the same place, in a mass grave that is located on the farm near Blackawton, around ten miles from the beach.
The real truth about this event is still hidden from the public eyes. The military ordered all witnesses to keep a mouth shut. Even the hospital stuff in the city was not able to talk about that.
The silence covered incident. The authorities estimated the truth about the corpses would be bad for the allied soldiers and their fighting morale.
Theories
Exactly this atmosphere was very fertile ground for the conspiracy theorist. Some investigators assume the German’s attack never happened and that the American soldiers were killed by the mistake, during the exercise.
The worst thing about this is the families of the killed soldiers never find out the truth. For them, their beloved are heroes, regardless they were killed by the friendly fire or real German invasion.
