Mysterious Death Of The Famous Poet
The death of the famous writer and poet Edgar Allan Poe is still considered as one of the strangest and mysterious events in the human history. It is known this popular author died on 7. October in 1848. There is an almost endless list of theories about his dead, which is the reason of spreading the mystery around the name of the father of horror stories.
First Witness
We now know, thanks to the historian information and sources, one of the last people who saw Edgar Allan Poe alive was Joseph W. Walker. He said he saw the poet who was stumbling aimlessly through the streets in Baltimore, Maryland. It was just four days before his death. The witness told the authorities that Poe was in desperate condition; totally distressed and in the serious delirium.
We also know Poe was placed in the Washington College Hospital after that, where he finally passed away. According to the official version, it was around 5 a.m.
The next important witness in the case of the Poe’s death is the doctor who treated the poet in the mentioned Washington College Hospital. His name was Dr. John Morgan. He was the key witness of the author’s very last days and everything we now know about this period we know because of the Dr. Morgan’s statements.
Suspicious Doctor
Dr. Morgan explained Poe was in seriously bad health condition, highly traumatized and confused. We also know Poe was ill until the very end and that he never managed to explain what was happening to him. He was constantly unconscious of the reality, which is the reason why all that he spoke was illogical and incoherent.
During the time, even Dr. Moran has become the subject of the investigations and his reputation and credibility was seriously questioned. The reason for this is simple- Dr. Moran has changed his story about the death of the Edgar Allan Poe.
There were a number of the private investigators and amateurs who have tried to find even the basic medical documentation from the Washington College Hospital. All those attempts resulted with great disappointment, because nothing could be found. It seemed every paper and document about the Poe’s days in the hospital has disappeared.
Drinking And Drug Problems
Investigators were forced to focus their quest on the friends and relatives of the author of the fantastic poem “Raven”. They said the poet had serious problems with alcohol and drug and that he has suffered from the strong depression attacks. They also said Poe escaped death year before he passed away, after he overdosed with the “Laudanum”- a strong painkiller. Nobody knows this was a planned attempt of suicide or just an ordinary accident.
As we said, there are a number of the theories about Poe’s death. Some think it was a consequence of the alcoholism or drug overusing. The other assumes poet suffered from some serious health problem and they observe his dead under the medical hypothesis. Third think he had some strange experience of the mysterious dark worlds that he described in his work.
